Who are the People in my Neighborhood?
Well, I guess these people aren't all in my neighborhood, but these are the people that I meet when I am walking down the street (or web as the case may be). These are my friends, e-pals, etc. in no apparent order (sorry if I missed som
eone - I am still adding to this list!):
- Siobhan is a personin my neighborhood. She has homemade icons and I don't so I am bitter andjealous. We have been friends since we met in grade 10! Siobhan has ma
ny claims to fame, one of which is that she has/had a rubber chicken which was autographed by the Jazz Butcher himself.Siobhan is a millionairess. Well, not actually. But she could be if onlyone of her relatives would get very very rich and then die and
leave itall to her! So that's pretty close, no?
- Hilary finally hasmade a wonderful if at times somewhat perverse homepage. I love it andI'm sure you will too. Be sure to check out the page that tell
s you WHO our Hilary really is for those of you braveenough to find out. She refers to my page as having 10 hidden pornographic links. Did you find all 10?
- David Kat
z now has a homepage, but it is a fascist home page and my favorite browser will not show it. Isuppose if you have some fancy shmancy Netscape 2.0 or above browser, youcan see his page. What can I say about Dave? I met him last summer whilewe were b
oth in a mad scramble to get prerequisites for computing science. And then, just as quickly as he had appeared *POOF* he was gone. He wentto the University of Victoria and I think he should come back here rightthis minute to suffer in the freezing cold al
ong with the rest of uschickens. Dave has been a ballerina, a soldier and now he is acomputing science student. If he read this, he would probably say "I wasn't a 'ballerina', I was adancer." To which I would reply "Oh. Whatever." The point is, he iswe
ll-rounded. Oh, yeah, he's into photography too. I think his set-upis a tad more sophisticated in that department than mine. I meetpeople that I think are worth being good friendswith on the order of once every five years. And Dave is one. Too bad he
left so soon. Jerk!
- Kofi (the
Kanuck)'s homepage What can I say about Kofi that you don't already
know?
- GaryLémmon is one of my e-pals from the UK! I met him on a scrabbleserver. We share a love of scrabble and I have him fooled into thinking Iam a really good player. I think he
should win a friendliest on the webaward. He even has his computer trained to send back a receipt for anye-mail that gets received when he is not at the computer so that you don'tthink he might have received your message without promptly responding!
- Geoff was the first e-pal I ever had. He wrote to me when my page was just a baby and pointed out that my e-mail address link was not functional, a problem that I didn't know how to fix at that time. He says he's currently making his own homepage and I
believe him... so Geoff, what's your URL???
- Ian Phillips is an e-pal of mine from Windsor, Ontario - YAY a Canadian. He's a guitarist and back-up vocalist in a band there. The wonderful thing about Ian is t
hat I think he actually groks what I mean half the time even though I haven't known him that long. He even sent me a sandwich with my name on it.
- Mike Roshko, a friend of mine who I have seen maybe once in the last couple of years. Actually, for a while, NO ONE knew where he was. Then he tur
ned up at Vince's party one day. And he TOLD me where he was, but now I don't remember. Do you think he erased the info from my brain? Kinda makes you think, doesn't it... maybe he has powers....
- Jeff House is a gu
y that I met in the Math Lounge (see above). Jeff has an interesting homepage which (when I last checked) contained Simpsons sound clips as well as interesting backgrounds (including this one). Go visit the world 'o' Jeff!
Recently, I got an e-mai
l message from an old friend of mine who I always call Andrew but for the sake of clarity, I will fondlyrefer to him here as Drew. He wrote (and I quote) "http://www.ualberta.ca/~mtucker/Drew.html." (Sho
uld I put the period inside of the quotes or out? I always wonder.) I found this message bizarre and wonderfully characteristic for Andrew. I pondered it for a minute or two, wondering if it had some deep significance. I think it must have. I met And
rew at Siobhan's place (see above). We were all working on a magazine called Dead Tree Product. It later became a University-affiliated publication. Andrew has a way about him. I decided that Andrew's purpose in writing me e-mail that contained his UR
L only was that he had probably read MY homepage and that he probably KNEW that by sending me his URL, I would besure to link to him. It is nice that he had enough faith in my intellect to trust that I could figure this out without the further hindrance
of things like *words*.
- Peng Mok I met Peng in high school. Now we are both on the web! His homepage is very spiffy.
- Jerry Fabro's homepage. Jerry's
someone I e-mailed a message to on behalf of my sister's
friend and then he replied and so since my sister's friend wasn't
over anymore, I took the liberty of replying to his reply and so it
happened that we started having an e-conversation conversation. It turns out
that we are twins.
- And many more!!! I am sure I will eventually get around to telling you ALL about ALL the people in my neighborhood, but for now, that's it... Sorry if I left anyone out!
